Which Way is Up?

Upside Down World Map

For me, the World is centered around the Southeast United States and radiates outwards from there. Places like New York, Chicago and Dallas are in the world's backyard. California is the next door neighbor. Alaska, Mexico and Canada... they are houses just down the street a little ways. Everything else gets progressively more remote. Australia, New Zealand, Japan? I'm pretty sure they are on this planet but they do seem awfully distant to me.

There is no excuse for this parochialism however. The world is flat and getting flatter after all. That's what makes a bug in BubbleTimer that caused customers in distant time zones to be dropped onto the wrong day all the more embarrassing. This is now fixed. My sincerest apologies go out to all the customers that were affected and my thanks go out to those who took the time to contact me and let me know about the problem.

In celebration of BubbleTimer's improved worldliness, I am going to send the first person to comment to this blog post an Upside Down World Map. Just leave a comment indicating that you are first and I'll contact you to get your address so I can have the map sent.

    Hi Sean!
Is BubbleTimer down? I started using it just yesterday and I really like it. When I try to go to the page, I see this:

    404 Not Found

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    nginx/0.6.31

    I hope all is well!

    Katie,

It seems like some intermittent issues have been existing here and there. Given that the majority of our testing was a small user base of friends and family, when we opened it up to the public a small sampling of bugs have been uncovered, which we have been working to fix as rapidly as possible.

Due to these issues, some unexpected problems might still arise. We apologize in advance for this, and hope to have everything working smoothly in a few days time.

    Katie,

There was a period of a couple of hours on Friday the 21st afternoon (EST time) where some of the sites servers were down causing the intermittent 404 error depending on which server you were dispatched to (which is random more or less). The problem was quickly identified and corrected but unfortunately it did result in some down time for some customers. I apologize for this and I'm working hard to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    Thanks,
    Sean

Damn, Must get my blackberry to surf the web then I'd own a shiny new map. Thanks for making the fix Sean. On another topic but related I created an activity in BubbleTimer that I named "Doing Things that are not productive" set a goal of zero and started adding time blocks when I get distracted and go off do something other than the tasks that I had aimed to achieve. Scary is the only way to describe the result. Would be interesting to see a similar task as a preference possibly

This is another rendition of "The Printable CEO"...

I've used the paper version for a while now, and it really rocks. I even talked to David once about producing something like this, and I have to commend you for a great job.

    Nice work!!!

    =D

Pat: It is a sweet map. Chris is a lucky guy.

I like what you are doing, using an activity to track when you get distracted. What do you mean by a preference though? I'm not following. What it would be doing?

    Thanks,
    Sean
